chess.replay
a story-led reading of the patterns hidden in public Chess.com game records.

Chess.replay began as a personal experiment in making something meaningful from openly available data. Because I play chess regularly, Chess.com’s public game records felt like a natural place to start. Rather than turn them into another statistics dashboard, I designed a story-led replay that surfaces the patterns players do not usually see at a glance: how games end, which openings keep returning, what survives on the board, and where opponents come from.
As I built it, the idea grew beyond a personal recap. Anyone can search a public Chess.com username and get a living snapshot of that player’s year—not a final verdict, but a playful reading of the games recorded so far. Chess.replay is still a work in progress, but it has become an exploration of how public data can be turned into something revealing, human, and fun.
